"Race Day" was inspired by our racing days with the boats we raced years ago. This was our normal view...the sterns of the rest of the fleet.

We found this boat on a visit to the Algarve in '92.
The setting for this piece is Scotland, where this boat was built in 1898.

"Rail Meat" is a common racing term for human ballast.
I did a series of these bird portraits some time ago, and limited it to four images. Each one has a small symbol that, I think, charcterizes each bird's nature and ties it to the group as a whole.
