The Giclee (pronounced zhee-clay)process was developed at the Louvre in Paris to faithfully reproduce the original watercolor paintings in their collection. The originals were rarely exhibited, due to the ill effects of exposure to light and environmental conditions, and were kept in special, climate-controlled storage vaults. Few people ever saw them.
Giclees are universally recognized to be the most faithful, accurate and durable way to preserve and reproduce original watercolor images.
I make each of my giclees myself and they are printed individually, one-at-a-time on archival, acid-free, heavy watercolor paper. Usually, the same paper I painted the original on, so as to show the same surface texture as the original.
The inks used are pigmented and are also archival for long life and resistance to fading.
I proof each print, personally.
